The
favours we are using for our wedding are hand-painted wineglasses
which ended up costing less than $1.50each. I am really
happy with how they turned out, they are going to add colour
to the table and when the couple leaves they will have a
new pair of wineglasses! I think the best part was when
a friend came up to me recently and said I say glasses
almost the same as yours, but not nearly as nice, at a store
today for $10 each I hope the guests love them (and
also appreciate all the work that went into them) and I
hope this idea helps all of you on your quest for favours!
Materials
Needed
Wineglasses
(ours are Sociable by LibbeyWal-Mart 12 for $15)
Sponge or Spongy brush
Two ¼ inch flat brushes
Scrip liner/ Fine brush
Three colours of Gloss indoor/outdoor acrylic enamel, the
ones here are by Plaid in green, white and berry wine
Container for rinse water
Oven
Paper towels
Styrofoam Plate

Instructions
1. Ensure
that the glasses are clean and dry
2. Put
a thin layer of permanent enamel surface conditioner for
tile, glass and ceramic, on the outside of the glass on
the area you will be painting, with a spongy brush or a
sponge and allow to dry.
3. You
then paint your design on the glasses. For instructions
on how to do my design see steps 4 6, but remember
you can get creative and use any design that works for you.
4. My
flowers are roses so we decided to stick to the rose theme.
To start the painting it is ideal to start with the buds.
Note:
We found this pattern from the One Stroke series by Donna
Dewberry. It is worth while to practice on a sheet of paper
before you start on your glasses.
5. The
next step is to paint on the leaves of the flowers. This
should be done with your green and white paint.
6. The
next step is to take your script liner brush and connect
the flowers and the leaves.
7. Allow
the glasses to dry for 48 hours.
8. Put
the painted glasses into a cool oven and turn the temperature
to 325°F.
9. Once
the oven has reached the desired temperature allow to bake
for 10 minutes at 325°F and then turn the oven off,
but do not open the door or remove the glasses until the
oven has cooled down.
10.
Once the oven has cooled down you can remove the glasses.
And Yippee we are almost done!
11.
Rinse the glasses with warm water and a mild soap to remove
any residue of the conditioner and once they dry they are
ready to use.
12.
This is just an extra word of advice on the care of the
wineglasses after painting, wash by hand only, i.e. No dishwasherss
o r r y, using mild detergents!
13.
Just I final note -- Good Luck and have fun with whatever
favours you decide to make!

The
finished product!
